過年期間不少人會選擇到廟裡走春祈福，其中當然求財也不可少。南投竹山紫南宮在過年期間每天就湧進十萬名信眾，借金、還金和添香油錢，每天會有高達5、6百萬元結餘款。為此，當地農會還特別加班，每兩天就來收一次款，每次金額都超過千萬元。
紫南宮每年元旦、農曆新年都會發放錢母，讓信眾領回家旺旺一整年，新春期間整個紫南宮區域爆滿人潮是常有的事，因為許多民眾為了希望新的一年事業昌隆、財源滾滾，都會特地來向土地公祈求發財金。
雖然有人借錢，但也有人會來還款，再加上大家習慣都會「多還一點」，以及隨喜捐贈的香油錢，紫南宮每天可是有千萬元進出。由於現金太多，為了安全起見，農會特別和廟方配合，出動點鈔機和點幣機，每兩天加班收錢，並請員警護鈔，守護信眾滿滿的心意。
