大年初一是民眾走春拜年的日子，加上艷陽高照，許多人會選擇出遠門走走。不過，國道一號湖口到新竹的車多壅塞，遇到塞車請駕駛耐心行使，或是轉往其他替代道路。
9點（0900）：國道一號以湖口至竹北車多壅塞，時數只有約25公里、國道三號車輛持續湧現，大溪龍潭時速約30公里，關西竹林車段眾多，車速約70公里、國道五號車潮湧現，以南港系統至坪林車多。
8點（0800）：國道一號湖口至新竹車多壅塞，時數僅有26公里、國道三號全縣交通順暢、國道五號仍以南港系統開始擁塞至坪林。
7點（0700）：國道一號以竹北至新竹車多，時速只有60公里、國道三號全線交通順暢、國道五號車輛湧現，以南港系統至坪林車潮壅塞，時速約40公里。
6點（0600）：國道一號全線交通順暢、國道三號全線交通順暢，而國道五號則以南港系統至頭城車輛最多，不過仍可以最高限速行駛。
