消費者文教基金會南區分會公布南部地區4間小學附近的空氣汙染來源，竟發現是砂石車、抽菸及汽車怠速；特別的是，高雄永芳國小的空屋來源是地瓜攤及早餐店。
中華民國消費者文教基金會南區分會2017年10月至12月期間，在6都、新竹市及雲林縣等縣市的國小旁，進行上學、在校及放學3個時段的PM2.5檢測。
分會指出，各所學校因環境差異，汙染源也不一樣，如台南市永康國小受砂石車影響、高雄市林園國小受菸害影響、台南裕文國小則受汽車怠速影響，而高雄市永芳國小的數據偏高，推測來自機車、烤地瓜及早餐店等。
分會表示，南部的空氣風險常高於北、中部，且許多學校空氣差時並未升起警示旗，因此建議民眾給學童配戴防PM2.5的口罩，並降低教室空氣pm2.5低於30μg/m3；另外，如果校方經費許可，也可評估校園內的風險，為學生設置空氣清新設備，保護學童的健康。
