市警第六分局表示，西屯區外籍移工人數一萬多人，其中以台中工業區廠商數量最多，過去也曾發生移工酒後騎車觸法的案件，因此除了對一般民眾進行酒後不開車宣導外，外籍移工也是需要提醒的族群。
尤其今年農曆春節各公司及廠商連休六天，為因應在台外籍移工長假期間聚會飲酒機會大增，該分局特別印製英語、泰語、越南語及印尼語等「多國語言防制外籍移工酒駕」宣導單，請轄區有聘僱外籍移工的廠商，張貼於公布欄、宿舍及大門警衛室等明顯處所。
